@kausmickey When’s the last time Dick Morris got something right? It’s a battle between him and Bill Kristol for Wrongest Man In The World
Mickey, of course it is true. If I’d had the internet in ’92, I’d have links so this has to be just from my recollection, which is pretty good. In March ’92, the NY Post published a story with a photo of a memo from Sen. Fulbright’s files. It showed Fulbright’s top aide, Lee ?Something intervening in Clinton’s convoluted multi-year draft evasion scheme. This was after Clinton claimed he’d gotten no political influence. I expected it to be a big story: caught in an outright lie. No other news outlet picked up the story at all. Total silence. Until September ’92 when the NYTimes ran the exact same story with no more details but with a photo of the same memo. But ran it on a Saturday. Back then, who got the Saturday paper? Smallest circulation of the week.
A few months after the election, Drummond Ayres was on Cspan Washington Journal and I got thru. Brian Lamb let me question him in detail about this. Ayres answer for why it took the Times 6 months to run the same story and ran the exact story – with the impact of saving Clinton in the primaries – was that perhaps it took that long for the story to mature. ??? It was the exact same story.
Yes, the media does actively protect the Clintons. Sheesh, what other politician could send a state trooper to fetch a state employee to a hotel room so that he could proposition her and survive?
