14 Republicans voted for the Gang of 8 amnesty bill–featuring an elaborate menu of Bubba-fooling fake-tough enforcement provisions–a decade ago. Not coincidentally, only 5 are still in the Senate (by my count)–Collins, Graham, Hoeven, Murkowski, Rubio. https://t.co/z62D8Qku6S

Who are the 10 or so Senate GOPs who are going to vote for the Potemkin Kabuki fake feckless fig leaf border changes negotiated by Lankford? PS How many GOP senators are really happy they went along with Schumer and voted for the Gang of 8 amnesty bill in 2013? Rubio? Hoeven? https://t.co/2gty87omPn

If @FrankSharry and the press’ other favorite pro-immigration activists had agreed to actually secure the border first, you could have had a full amnesty (“Dreamers,” everybody!) two decades ago. Most ineffective legislative strategy ever? https://t.co/nOhZZVWkue

The migrant surge numbers will rise along with Trump’s polling lead, no? If would-be migrants think Trump is going to win, they’ll rush to the border now because they’ll think it’s their last chance before Biden’s easy-peasy policies end. (And the coyotes will tell them that.)

Where to set the “trigger” for closing the border? The obvious logical place is at the capacity of our facilities to detain migrants as required by law (that’s 30,000 total, according to this piece). https://t.co/r1Dcdt0Z0I

Better no deal than to in any way normalize 3,000 illegal crossings a day. It’s not even close. That’s three times what Jeh Johnson said would overwhelm the system.

The rise in wages during Covid can’t be ENTIRELY due to composition effects-can it? Lots of people at all levels dropped out of labor force, reducing labor supply at all levels-which you’d think would raise wages (ie a genuine raise).
