Didn't realize that Joichi Ito (@Joi) who raised funds from Epstein for MIT Media Lab & his own investment funds in 2013 [when anyone who did any due diligence knew what Epstein was about] is a member of the @NYTimes Board of Directors. Will they keep him? https://t.co/m1bbxXJzb8

Seems more like corporatism. Assumes there are a few business leaders Trump can gather around a table and get to follow a common line. https://t.co/F8aKePMxSj

Administration's new Flores rule is the right idea, no? Make sure migrant facilities are decent, keep families together, but don't release asylum claimants into US (never to leave-if they're even seen again) until their case is heard. Decide cases quickly https://t.co/HZ8mzs69nb

Odd to see China's lack of democracy unquestioningly touted as strength in trade war–reminds of what many said about Soviet Union in 80s. It's a strength until it isn't, no? China rulers have promised economic growth in exchange for less freedom. When the growth stops … https://t.co/55notY6Z5R

I should have made clear Thomas got Epstein to give the money in 2017. He disclosed this to the NYT in 2018. ("Shocking lapse of journalistic standards.") Of course the NYT should have realized something was amiss with its coverage back in 2008, when Thomas wrote his puffer.

The @NYTimes needs a fall guy for its embarrassing Epstein failure. Looks like it's Landon Thomas.
As timeline below suggests, the problem was not Landon Thomas. https://t.co/wIEGoDdLCu

NYT editors: No problem!
2018–Editors send Thomas to interview Epstein again. Thomas tells them he got Epstein to give $ to Harlem charity.

Great piece! But why *did* the @NYTimes never do a piece like Phil Weiss' 2007 profile of Epstein ("the emperor's new clothes with an erection")? Don't think it's because Landon Thomas was compromised. Suspect its because at some level NYT editors knew the story led to Clinton. https://t.co/vtzkqCB7zH
