Frank Luntz promised to show us Trump’s dial-topping moment on immigration, but gee, it looks like he’s not going to get to it. Foxy!
There’s a momentary guilty hesitation, a tell, when Fox personalities (eg Megyn Kelly) gratuitously/insincerely say Rubio was a winner.
TELLING LINE OF THE NIGHT: Jeb!: “if you’re looking at Republican advisers, you have to go to the last two administrations. ” You do?
I think Insta-CW is underestimating Carson. We all thought he’d washed out in last debate and he gained. Will gain significantly.
MSNBC correctly notes the crowd was stacked with pro-Bush donor class stiffs.
CNN too busy patting itself on the back to spin debate one way or another.
My take: Trump, Carson, Christie, Rubio, Fiorina all did well. Walker failed. MSM primed to over-boost Fiorina.
Carly noticed how well Carson’s racial equality pitch played. ….
This is the sort of rambling Kasich monologue that almost cost us the welfare reform bill.
Big laugh for medium Bush joke shows this is (wildly unrepresentative) pro-Bush audience. Hasn’t had much chance to cheer.
CNN: We’re never going to stop this thing! We’ve got ads to sell and this is the first money-making show we’ve come up with!
The prophylactic anti-Bloomberg ads get shunted to the end.
We put a man on the moon. We can end this debate.
Christie would seem to be getting traction on means-testing Social Security. 40 years ago this was an eccentric neolib Charles Peters cause
Half hour to go. Rubio had a strong last half hour. Jeb! had one effective answer but still many bricks shy of load.
Well placed (and presumably not cheap) @NumbersUSA ad.
Why does Jeb! have to get foreign policy advisers from the previous two administrations? “Help. I’m a prisoner of establishment!”
So far (1:45 in) Trump, Carson, Fiorina, Christie maybe Kasich have done well for themselves. Others washing out.
If Trump’s tax answer wasn’t at least a general election winner then I give up.
But childish back and forth is what CNN wanted …
Immigration section left Trump looking *totally* in command of this issue, it seems to me (and I’m skeptical of mass deportation plans)
Cruz HAS supported a version of amnesty kausfiles.com/2015/05/21/cru…
Carson rapidly toughening his immigration position?
So far Trump winning on immigration (I would say that but I’m trying to be dispassionate here.) He caught a break when Bash cut Carly off.
