.@bill_allison has one compelling possible explanation: Twitter’s balance-sheet symbol TWTR doesn’t refer to actual Twitter stock but to a “Twitter tokenized stock FTX,” which is not Twitter stock. That could be how @Semafor got it wrong https://t.co/s9QImp2fY5 https://t.co/L29d80BURX

No attempt is made to reconcile the “balance sheet” report with Musk saying “in fact [SBF] owns 0%” of Twitter. https://t.co/DIRT2RRzFu Obvious possibility: The balance sheet’s wrong or @Semafor’s reporter misread it (eg what it calls TWTR isn’t Twitter stock but something else).

This story has been rewritten to cut the description of Musk & SBF as “financial partners.” But it retains the claim that “Bankman-Fried owns a sizable chunk of a now privately held and debt-laden Twitter,” though it lasy that off on “an FTX balance sheet.” Adds Musk’s denial 1/ https://t.co/UwMrg9Zz6p

CORRECTION: The “opted not to invest” sentence appears to refer to the earlier grandiose plan to invest $5 billion-$10 billion, not to the later “roll over” possibility, which Musk says didn’t happen–and apparently he’s right about that. There appears to be no “sizable chunk.”

But it seems relevant whether or not he actually took SBF’s money: 1) On question of whether he should give it back! 2) On question of whether SBF is part owner of new Twitter (as he is of Semafor) https://t.co/0BUHBoEXwy

The problem isn’t that you don’t cover SBF aggressively and disclose his investment. The problem is it is dirty money and you should give it back. https://t.co/d89TrmHcUU
