It’s easier to believe in magic — to believe that we can bring in an infinite number of people and share what we have with them without our own lives or standard of living changing.
It is a fantasy, of course.
It is interesting how many “smart people” really seem to believe in this fantasy. One of the reasons those who do get so upset by those who don’t is that the reality is so different.
We should ask everybody to advocates for mass migration what they themselves are willing to give up to help immigrants.
I’ve done a bit of that myself. So far no one has ever given me a real answer of any kind.
