@kausmickey That story is a complete crock of shit & as out of touch with reality as Washington elites.
@kausmickey Mead’s article gets it exactly backwards: Know-Nothingism was a REACTION to Jacksonianism among working class urban dwellers.
@kausmickey @benshapiro Trump: end of American exceptionalism, politically. To wit: Berlusconi, Peron, Chavez, Collor de Mello, Kirchner etc
Like Eric Fehrnstrom said, its immigration. Ordinary people are seeing it in their lives constantly. The real numbers must be huge. Rubio and “Nikki” Haley are probably alienating more people with their “daughter/son-of-an-immigrant” self promotion. People are not stupid; thats one of the major themes this year: We’re not that stupid to believe that “Nikki” Haley and Marco Rubio advanced on they’re merits.
Here’s an article with a thoracic surgeon Trump supporter. He’s went to plenty of college.

@kausmickey I support Trump but I don’t consider myself Jacksonian.
@kausmickey Probably the same general education level though, which is to say very little.
@kausmickey Jackson’s did too – eg Martin Van Buren was his consigliere, veep, & successor; Whigs won w/Jackson-style campaign in 1840.
