I had brain lock (one of many) and forgot the in-house newsmagazine term for a long Henry Kissinger piece that nobody will read (but they might buy the magazine for when it’s billed on the cover). The term is “hood ornament.”

Since the welfare reforms of the ’90s were specifically designed, in part, to change the culture of single and teen motherhood, it’s odd that @JasonDeParle doesn’t discuss them now that their goal has been partly achieved. (He does mention them once in passing.) https://t.co/uLcuxISrUO

Is it possible some Biden people have this idea–that they might flip this switch and tacitly restart the Remain-in-Mexico plan they foolishly ended–in the back of their minds? (What’s the opposite of paranoia?) I assume that’s too good to be true. https://t.co/h3OymixWb2

As @BensmanTodd explains, many who Biden is letting in (under his new expanded “parole” program) would NOT win their asylum cases.

What if Biden required migrants who use the CBP One mobile app to actually WIN their asylum claims before they show up at the US border ports of entry? With that one change, Biden’s plan could be turned into Trump’s successful Remain in Mexico plan, no? https://t.co/obm5AegAED

“But if your application is denied or you attempt to cross into the United States unlawfully, you will not be allowed to enter.”
This is key sentence in Biden speech. If it happens–even after migrants cross onto US soil–the numbers will go down. Does anyone think it’ll happen?

Basically, as long as Biden doesn’t detain, expel, or deport “irregular” migrants making bogus asylum claims–and it looks like this plan in fact doesn’t do those things–more will come.
It’s kind of that simple. If they keep getting in, they will keep coming.

It’s hard to avoid thinking that the reason @Semafor won’t disclose SBF’s investment or set the $$ aside for repayment, is 1) the investment is big 2) Semafor can’t afford to set it aside or repay now. ProPublica has disclosed the amount of SBF’s investment and put the money in a separate account. @Semafor has refused to disclose the amount and refers to a vague consultative process that apparently doesn’t involve setting the money aside in a separate account. Why? https://t.co/kQvH9zLODz
