Means-testing — You Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet: The much-lauded bipartisan “doc fix” bill seems to contain only a very mild version of the most obvious fix for the Social Security and Medicare budgets — namely means-testing (shaving the benefits of the affluent).  The bill would nick seniors with incomes over $133,500 ($267,00 for a couple) with mild increases in their Medicare premiums. Of course, very few seniors make that much — they tend to be beyond their high-earning years. The latest means test would only hit the top 2% of them.  Imagine how much we’d save if we nicked the top 30%. There’s a lot more means-testing yet to go. …
