    @kausmickey @mfcannon @CatoInstitute @DarwinsFool the ONLY way to reduce is through free market competition nationwide.

    @kausmickey

    MYTH #1: IT’S NOT INSURANCE.

    It doesn’t just cover catastrophic emergencies. It’s poorly-designed bc developed by gov’t.

    @kausmickey @mfcannon @CatoInstitute @DarwinsFool Certainly hard to price that. For it to work seller would have to have total flexibility.

    @kausmickey It’s not a problem if you can decline to cover certain people, or accept them while declining to cover some of their conditions.

    @kausmickey @mfcannon @CatoInstitute @DarwinsFool It’s not better coverage, they just can’t turn down bad risks

    @kausmickey Free market insurance without government control will Always benefit everyone not just those that need insurance when needed

    @kausmickey @mfcannon @CatoInstitute @DarwinsFool Obamacare is Killing off a great industry and thousands of professionals who are needed

    In a market system, underwriting contains adverse selection. Makes comprehensive coverage possible. Secure, even. @kausmickey

    ACA’s CR price ctrls make comprehensive coverage impossible. For same reason you can’t get $50 wine under a $10 price ceiling. @kausmickey

    @mfcannon @kausmickey In a market system, a significant portion of people are in-insurable.

    @mfcannon @kausmickey but the sick poor will be priced out which is exactly Mickey’s point.

    @kausmickey agreed 35 years of honest hard work dying because of a socialist you reap what you sow I am 60 and have to adjust to change

    @mfcannon @kausmickey CR makes sure that insurers can’t charge sicker people more. Prior to ACA, this was a huge problem.

    @sftokarski @mfcannon @kausmickey exactly.

    runaway cost of care, drugs, med tech etc the problem no matter how society pays.

    @MarkP21 @mfcannon @kausmickey Why shouldn’t sicker people have to pay more?

    @BruceWi29613587 @mfcannon @kausmickey @CatoInstitute @DarwinsFool no evidence to support this causal story.

  18. @mcbridetd

    @kausmickey @mfcannon @CatoInstitute indeed it is. And it can be rectified by good risk rating, the approach taken by the #ACA

    Fewer people will be priced out of health care if we have 300m cost-conscious consumers. @MarkP21 @kausmickey

    @mfcannon @kausmickey 1) fallacy to think of patients as “cost-conscious consumers”; 2) $$ shouldn’t affect access to health care.

    Yet ACA doesn’t end discrimination against the sick. And risk-based premiums make coverage better for the sick. @MarkP21 @kausmickey
