The backdrop is if you were a white affluent kid from Connecticut with good grades, good test scores etc that would have gotten you into an Ivy a decade earlier you had NO CHANCE to get into an Ivy given the squeeze of DEI and legacy admissions. So they tried this workaround out of desperation. A little sympathy please!
