Requirement that Trump believe a classified document “could be used to the injury of the United States” seems a way bigger obstacle than Lodal lets on. a) Given overclassification, might not be true about a given document; b) Crazy Trump might well in good faith not believe it. https://t.co/om42djlmXM

Here is a credible study (via @swinshi) concluding that more than half of the large increase in work participation by single moms without a high school degree was due to work requirements and time limits, both features of the ’96 reform https://t.co/5os7ByL2eG https://t.co/4oATEcRvda

A point even @JasonDeParle doesn’t dare make in this v-fair article is that the most rapid decline in child poverty occurred under Trump (2017-2019). Was it because of previously planned aid changes–or because Trump raised wages at the bottom (in part by limiting immigration)? https://t.co/egRSb3uHwE

But the ’96 welfare reform (1) is a good part of what caused the increased labor force participation among single mothers” and (2) is also what allowed politicians to increase government aid–because it wasn’t going to non-workers.
Clinton emphasized (2) when signing the bill https://t.co/tg4MvEyHdP

With a Clintonian work-based welfare state, not only are voters more willing to be generous, but you can heap on benefits without threat of creating a non-work culture.
Left foolish to abandon this successful formula (per NYT) for the no-work dole approach of Biden “tax credit” https://t.co/nopnaXYtRH
